Deck Jak® Tile Support

Made from UV resistant polypropylene.

Colour: Black.

We have three head-options available.

UBP_Deck_Jak1__Narrow_Fin.jpg

Narrow Fin

This is our most popular Deck Jak® tile support and is suitable for use with Timber Panels, Structural Tiles, Natural Stone and Pavers.

UBP_Product_Photos_12Sep08_044a.jpg

Wide Fin

This Deck Jak® tile support has 8mm spacers on the support plate. This version is suitable for compressed sheet with a tile over-lay. The tile overhangs the compressed sheet by 2mm each side, reducing the over-all gap to 4mm (may vary slightly due to tile inconsistencies). This solution allows a large range of exterior tiles to be used with this system

Timber_Tops_003f.jpg

Timber Top©

This Deck Jak® support is designed for floating-deck configurations and has large fins either side of the head, to which the timber 'joist' is attached. The fins are spaced to accommodate 45mm timber and are grooved to allow ease of fixing using either nails or screws.
Spacing of Timber Top© supports should be in accordance with NZS3604 2011 (section 7) - joist spans.

- Overview

Deck Jak® tile supports are injection-moulded, in NZ, from polypropylene.

  • Strength (See our Point Load Test results here)
  • Durability (100% UV Stable) and
  • Versatility
These were some of the key design considerations, as was Recyclability.
  • Urban Building Products Ltd believe they have combined all of these points, managing to achieve a cost effective solution to changes in the NZ Building Code E2/AS1 (view here)

Deck Jak® tile supports consist of two parts; a 105mm diameter base with an internal thread, and a top with an external thread and top plate with Spacer Fins (3mm Narrow Fin or 8mm Wide Fin).

►Deck Jak® tile supports can be cut down. Urban Building Products Ltd offers a cut-down service to reduce the Deck Jak® height [minimum 25mm.] (Ask here)

Deck Jak® Spacer

We have two sizes available - These fit underneath the Deck Jak® tile support. They can be stacked to achieve the required lift and are designed to be used beneath a Deck Jak® tile support, not independently.

UBP_Product_Photos_12Sep08_042a.jpg20mm Deck Jak® Spacer

The Deck Jak® Spacer clips snugly beneath the Deck Jak® tile support. They are stackable, with each one providing an additional 20mm lift. Drainage ports are included in the design to alleviate water stagnation problems. These are fully integratable with the NEW 50mm Deck Jak® Spacer. The 110mm diameter base provides a very solid platform.

The 50mm Deck Jak® Spacer is Urban Building Product's recent addition, and has been developed to meet the ever growing demand by customers to evolve the system. The 50mm Deck Jak® Spacer, like the 20mm version, clips snugly beneath the Deck Jak® tile support and is stackable, providing an additional 50mm lift each. The base of this version is comparable to the 20mm.

The photo to the left shows the view from above a Deck Jak® Spacer. Only the flat base comes into contact with the waterproof membrane. All parts in contact have smooth rounded edges. The drainage ports shown allow water to drain from the Deck Jak® Spacer and are similar to the drainage ports in the base of the Deck Jak® tile supports. This eliminates stagnant water smells.

UBP_Product_Photos_026a.jpg200mm Diameter Deck Jak® Base Plate with additional 2° fall compensation.

The 200mm Diameter Deck Jak® Base Plate. This product sits under any Deck Jak® tile support configuration. As well as negating any adverse effects on the ratings of acoustic membranes, the built-in fall compensation allows the Deck Jak® tile support System to be used on up to 4° falls, doubling the current allowance of the stand-alone Deck Jak® tile support. Made from RECYCLED Polycarbonate.

The photo to the left shows a Narrow Fin Deck Jak® tile support seated on a combination of 20mm and 50mm Deck Jak® Spacers.

The deck will need to be fully enclosed to ensure there is no chance of any lateral (sideways) movement. This stacking system provides a very stable base for the Deck Jak® tile support, and tiled surface. The NEW 50mm Deck Jak® Spacer allows more stability than ever on high (up to 400mm) support, pedestrian areas.

Wall Spacer Options

Wall Spacers are used to keep the 'tiled' surface 6mm away from all perimeters and entrance-ways.

This gap allows drainage down the wall / balustrade, eliminates dirt and mould build-up, and is small enough to stop the chance of a high heel slipping through the cracks, especially at entrance-ways.

There are three basic options available.

All types available in bags of 50.

wall plug or mushroom spacerWall Plug (or Mushroom)

These are ideal for Timber Panel, compressed sheet and paver use. Measure 50mm in from each end of the side of a 'tile' against a wall. Drill a 6mm hole 15mm deep, and simply push the Wall Plugs into place.  Made from a polypropylene/ nylon mix. Black only.

Washer SpacerSpacer Disc

These are used to provide a drainage gap between a Stainless Steel or Aluminium angle (not supplied) and the cladding / balustrade. The angle provides a convenient, tidy completion point for the perimeter tiles. This method is especially useful where a very small piece of tile requires support, although the angle may simply be installed for aesthetic purposes. Screws or angle are not supplied with this system.

Made from a polypropylene/ nylon mix. Black only.

Tile Edge ClipTile Edge Clip

These are specifically designed for 14mm self supporting tiles, depending on tile manufacturers nominal tolerances. No drilling or screwing is required with this version of Wall Spacer. The Tile Edge Clip, as the name suggests clips on to the edge of the tiles. These can be placed 50mm in from the corner of all perimeter tiles, or can be used to bridge a tile joint. See additional photos below.

Tile Edge Clips are available as standard black. Please ask about custom colours for your tile.
